Conical Finishers

The Conical Finisher is a versatile alternative to conventional mills. It handles even difficult products such as sticky or heat sensitive materials without difficulty.

• Dry mixing/dispersion - breaks up and disperses lumpy ingredients such as fatty or heat sensitive products or prills back into dry “mix”

• De-agglomeration - returns agglomerated clumps back to original single particles

• Dry milling - achieves particle size reduction for a desired particle size and range

• Wetted material reduction - allows increases in drying efficiencies delivering declumped wetted “powders” or filter cakes of small uniform size.

Working Principle

Conical Finishers achieve size reduction through repeated delivery of the product to the area between the impeller arms and the conically shaped screen.

Selection of screens with a suitable hole diameter, screen shape and spacing together with impellers of different geometry and rotational velocities determine centrifugal acceleration forces and residence times.
